It is an international destination of faith and cultura.)
More than a sanctuary
Meritxell is a space of peace and contemplation. Pilgrims, in communion with nature, pay their respects to the Patron Saint of Andorra. The faith, identity and culture of the Andorran people made Meritxell the spiritual heart of the country
Faith and legend melted many centuries ago. Together, they gave birth to the devotion to the Virgin of Meritxell. A story of unconditional love of the Andorrans made possible what today is a reality.
The history of Andorra cannot be explained unless it goes hand in hand with the Virgin of Meritxell. The people cannot be understood without their virgin and vice versa. Meritxell has forged the identity of its inhabitants
The Principality pays its respects to its origins, not only through the sanctuary, but also trough the surrounding treasures. The Romanesque churches are an invitation to get submerged in its culture
